Robert L. Rubinstein received his A.B. in Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in 1972; his M.A. in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College in 1974, and his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College in 1978.

Dr. Rubinstein is a cultural anthropologist with an interest in aging and old age. He has conducted research on older men, childless elders, middle aged women whose last parent has recently died, death in nursing homes, food in long term care, and later life suffering. This research has been supported by several agencies including NIH. He has conducted field research in the US and on Malo Island, Vanuatu (South Pacific).
